The purpose of International Children’s Academy is to provide quality care for children in a safe, clean and loving environment.
The philosophy of the Center is to help children develop positive self-images. High emphasis is placed on the emotional security of the children, and much personal attention is given to the children in order that they know they are loved and valued as individuals. Since the children spend several hours a day at the Center, such security is especially important. We believe that the children’s innate curiosity can lead them to discover new areas of cognitive ability, motor development, creative expression, and social awareness. International Children’s Academy provides a rich variety of stimulating possibilities. Such as stimulating lesson plans, nature walks, books, art materials, puzzles, sensory tables, raw materials, other children for friends, and a loving staff to guide and assist the children toward their individual goals.

We have multiple preschool classrooms which range in age from 3 to 5 years. All classes are designed to offer a stimulating learning environment in preparation for school. Teachers plan activities that address the diverse needs of each group and aid children in the development of self-help skills, social skills, gross and fine motor skills, language skills, and cognitive. We also foster creativity and a desire to learn, and encourage the children to feel comfortable, accepted, and successful. The older preschool classrooms place more emphasis on handwriting, pre-reading, and pre-math skills as the children approach the transition into kindergarten.
Bedding and water bottles will be sent home to be laundered and washed every Friday and returned to International Children’s Academy with each child on the following Monday.
Please be sure that all personal belongings are labeled.
The two-year-old classroom is designed to build upon the skills gained in the toddler years and continue the nurturing, exciting and educational opportunities for the children. The teaching staff works hard to prepare the children for the transition into preschool. The classroom will build off the toddler curriculum, but will focus even more heavily on self-help skills, including toilet training and dressing. The curriculum will allow them to experience more activity choices and large group activities, becoming more structured as they approach preschool. Emphasis will still be placed on fostering inquisitiveness.
Bedding will be sent home to be laundered every Friday and returned to International Children’s Academy with each child on the following Monday.
All personal belongings must be labeled.
The children are surrounded by toys and educational equipment suitable to their developmental needs. There is a daily routine to help give them a sense of security. Play centered activities are planned in varied areas of development: language, small and large motor, dramatic play, sensory, music, art, pre-literacy, pre-math, and discovery. We provide a loving and friendly atmosphere for the children to discover new aspects about themselves and the world around them. Because of the toddler’s age, close supervision and attention is paid to their hygiene. A daily record of their progress is provided.
Any additional comforting items are welcomed.
Please be sure that all personal belongings are labeled.
The infant room consists of one room with children 6 weeks to 12 months. Children move to the toddler room when they are developmentally ready. The children use toys and educational materials to enhance their physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development.
Close supervision and attention are paid to the infants’ hygiene and safety. Diapers are checked and changed frequently. A daily record is provided to parents detailing the child’s naps, feedings, diaper changes, and any other communications.
Parents are responsible for providing diapers, wipes, and formula/breast milk. Mothers are welcome to breast feed their babies at the center. Babies are held during bottle feeding unless the child is old enough and shows the desire to hold the bottle themselves. Each child has his/her own crib with laundry provided by the center. We recognize the importance of developing a trust between the caregiver and the children as well as providing a stimulating curriculum. Babies learn new skills so quickly. Small motor, large motor, social, language, and individual developmental activities are conducted throughout the day.
Diapers, Wipes, Formula or Breast Milk, Bottle/Binky (if used), Family photo, extra change of clothes and Jar foods. Once you feel your child is ready for table foods, talk to your child’s teacher and we can work with you on providing ICA menu items to your child.
Any additional comforting items are welcomed.
Please be sure that all personal belongings are labeled.
Purpose, Goals, and Philosophy
The purpose of International Children’s Academy is to provide quality care for children.
Through this philosophy we hope to work toward our goal of future accreditation through N.A.E.Y.C. and encourage the children:
To develop their own potential abilities.
To learn to care for themselves, their bodily needs, and their environment.
To enjoy the company of peers and adults.
To enjoy new learning experiences.
To have good eating and sleeping routines.
To function in a daily routine with self-control, and independence.
Creative Curriculum
International Children’s Academy incorporates The Creative Curriculum into our classrooms.
So why choose Creative Curriculum?
Creative Curriculum shares with us a comprehensive approach to addressing the care and education of each child as an individual. Creative Curriculum helps children acquire social competence and the skills they need to succeed as learners.
What is the teacher's role in Creative Curriculum?
The Creative Curriculum approach takes a look at the teacher and helps them observe children more purposefully. Through these observations, the teacher is able to create a lesson plan which can be administered to the individual or to the whole group. The Creative Curriculum approach enables teachers to integrate content learning and bring it into everyday experiences.
International Children’s Academy is committed to providing quality and excellence. We believe that your child through creative curriculum principles will be able to develop the necessary skills to become a lifelong learner.
Parent Involvement
We encourage parents to become involved with their child’s overall learning experience. We welcome parents as volunteers and can utilize volunteers in various ways: Helping with class celebrations, being a guest speaker on a topic of study, helping to supervise special activities, donation of recycled goods, etc.
Communication
Communication is important to us at ICA. Infants, Toddlers and Twos receive a Daily Sheet at the end of the day with information on feeding, diaper changes, activities, etc. They also have a closed Facebook group for those families only!
Preschool/Pre-k also have closed Facebook group for their classroom only!
At any time, you may call the center or reach out to your child's teacher with questions or concerns.
Admission Procedures and Policy
International Children’s Academy shall abide by an Anti-Discrimination Policy, which will not deny registration or participation in regard to gender, race, religion, or handicap of any kind.

Illness
At International Children’s Academy, we strive to keep our classrooms illness free. In the case of prescription drugs, the bottle from the pharmacy must be labeled with the child’s first and last name, name of medication, dosage, dosage intervals, and name of physician. Non-prescription drugs such as aspirin, cough syrup or decongestants shall be administered only if an authorized form has been completed.
